The Rural Municipality of Woodworth is located in southwestern Manitoba, and is only 45 minutes west of Manitoba's second largest city, Brandon. Woodworth is ideally located close to the towns of Virden, Rivers, Oak Lake and the village of Hamiota. This connection of urban areas and numerous surrounding municipalities creates a strong trading area. Woodworth is located three hours from both Winnipeg and Regina, giving it an excellent location for major Canadian markets.
The economic picture in Woodworth is excellent. The municipality has recently attracted several new industries, as a result of the community's aggressive approach and support for potential investors.
** NOTICE - State of Local Emergency **
June 30, 2014
The Council of the Rural Municipality of Woodworth has declared a State of Local Emergency for the RM of Woodworth due to the excessive rainfall that we have recently experienced. We are asking for the public's cooperation at this time to please stay off all municipal roads as our public works employees work to assess, barricade and close roads as required. Under no circumstances should you go around barricades.
If assistance is required please call the Municipal Office 204-838-2317 or Ken at 204-851-6488. We will be updating the RM of Woodworth website (www.rmofwoodworth.com) and posting updates to our RM of Woodworth Facebook page as things progress.
Thank you for your cooperation! **NOTICE**
For individuals that are experiencing damage to private property, please collect documentation for a potential Disaster Financial Assistance Claim. This includes pictures (before, during and after), copies of bills for purchases and repairs and detailed notes of what has happened. The more evidence you have, the more successful your claim should be.
